This marks the second draft-dodging controversy involving Chen, who previously clarified that he was exempted from service due to asthma. According to Taiwanese media, he admitted paying NT$100,000 (HK$25,000) to a middleman group to falsify his medical records.
Hsiu, whose health was normal, reportedly spent NT$150,000 (HK$38,000) before serving alternative duty and applying for early discharge due to his wife’s pregnancy.
Other celebrities implicated include Leow Jun-jie of boy band Lollipop, who was also questioned, and Kunda Hsieh of Energy, who returned from Canada to face questioning.
The scandal first surfaced in February when Darren Wang was revealed to have used a middleman to falsify medical records to avoid service. Authorities say over 20 people have now been prosecuted, with dozens more cases under investigation.
