The five-day conference, organized by the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA) at the Hilton Portomaso, St Julian’s, Malta and running from Sunday (Apr 6) to Thursday (Apr 10), attracted around 600 delegates including some of the finest legal professionals in the world to discuss issues of interest to the profession.
Maurellet described his first international forum as a unique opportunity to engage in face-to-face interactions with legal leaders from various jurisdictions, as well as to maintain Hong Kong’s connection with other international organizations by showcasing the city’s legal system and advantages.
As one of the key international events in the legal year, Maurellet highlighted the conference not only offers valuable opportunities for young lawyers to communicate with global legal leaders, but also serves as a platform for him to explain the role of the Hong Kong Bar Association and the city’s comprehensive service in international arbitration.
He added that the association would continue sending representatives to international conferences to connect with other legal entities to ensure the city’s competitiveness on the global stage.
CLA is a pan-Commonwealth organization which seeks to uphold the rule of law in the Commonwealth by encouraging the exchange of ideas between legal professionals, academics and students, through projects and by driving improvements in legal education.
