A total of 80 Hongkongers were awarded "Good Citizens" on Sunday for their brave acts in stopping crimes or saving lives over the last year, with the awards aiming to encourage the citizens to contribute to public safety.

According to the police, nine awardees will also receive the "Good Citizen of the Year Award," while seven "Good Organization Awards" will be presented to corporations in recognition of their efforts in crime prevention.
Commissioner of Police Siu Chak-yee stated during the ceremony that citizens who performed small good deeds in their daily lives could prevent a crime or even save a life, emphasizing that everyone can practice the spirit of being a good citizen.
He also reminded the public to stay vigilant against scams, adding that the police will continue to promote anti-fraud efforts and expressed hope that all sectors of society would unite in crime prevention.
