The naked man was spotted by tunnel staffers at around 6 pm yesterday lingering around the entrance of Sha Tin Heights Tunnel.
Staffers attempted to intercept the man but in vain, with the man having later scaled a 5-meter-tall noise barrier on Tsing Sha Highway to evade the staffers.
Police officers and firefighters were then called to the scene, deploying air cushions.
The man refused to comply with the first responders’ instruction to come down, and remained silent as he stood on a power distribution box installed just under the canopy.
At around 8 pm, firefighters climbed up the noise barrier and abseiled down to reach the man. The firefighters managed to help the man land safely onto the air cushion after a minor scuffle.
The man was escorted by police officers to undergo an examination at the Prince of Wales Hospital.
Police said the man, identified as 28-year-old Mang, did not suffer from any physical injuries but showed signs of him suffering from mental health disorders.
Police officers of the Tin Sum division are following up on the investigation.
