Speaking at the Tech Applied Summit, Chan expressed hope for launching the first batch of the low-altitude economy projects related to takeaway delivery and public services within the next two months.
She emphasized the urgent need for infrastructure to support the low-altitude economy, such as establishing an intelligent network and a management system within the drone's airspace to monitor its routing.
Meanwhile, Chan urged local universities to leverage their strengths in fields such as aviation technology, satellite communications, and artificial intelligence to drive innovation.
She reminded mainland businesses interested in the pilot projects that Hong Kong's comprehensive public transportation system and dense population pose unique challenges for the applied scenarios of low-altitude drone technology.
It is essential for the government to consider the professionalization and standardization of these pilot projects, she added.
