The weather watchdog said on Sunday that a relatively humid easterly airstream was affecting the coast of Guangdong, with relative humidity hitting 82 percent at noon.
“Besides, the cold front over the northern part of Guangdong is moving southwards gradually. It is expected to move across the coastal areas tomorrow morning,” the Observatory said, adding that cloudy weather with mist and one or two rain patches would continue on Sunday night.
With the cold front moving across the coast of Guangdong on Monday morning, winds will strengthen from the north, and the weather will become appreciably cooler with one or two rain patches over the region.
“The minimum temperatures on Tuesday morning will be about 13 degrees in urban areas, a couple of degrees lower and cold in the New Territories. Remaining cool in the morning for the following couple of days,” the Observatory said.
Temperatures will fluctuate between 13 to 19 degrees Celsius, while dry and cloudy weather is expected throughout the coming week.
The associated dry northeast monsoon will affect Guangdong in the middle of the week, bringing cold conditions to inland areas.
Under the influence of a fresh easterly airstream, it will become cloudier over the coast of Guangdong in the middle and latter parts of this week.
The Observatory added that another surge of northeast monsoon will affect southern China over the weekend, bringing cool and dry weather to Hong Kong.
