Chung emphasized that in the era of big data, the frequency of such incidents has escalated due to companies not adequately safeguarding their data. She stressed the importance of enhancing data protection awareness across all sectors.
The commissioner also mentioned that the Data Security Toolkit has gained significant traction, attracting participation from over a hundred schools, non-profit organizations, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
Chung explained that organizations utilizing the toolkit can use the Data Security Scanner to perform a swift and straightforward self-assessment of their data security measures for their ICT systems. Upon completing this assessment, participants are entitled to five free slots in workshops and lectures offered by the PCPD.
Additionally, the privacy watchdog has launched a dedicated data security webpage and a hotline to provide essential information and support to residents.
