Yuen Long care home resident stabbed in stomach

A 60-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach by his neighbor at a Yuen Long elderly care home after the two had got into a fight over the use of an electric fan.

Police received a report of the suspected assault at the care home on Tai Hang Street in Yuen Long at around 11.13 am.

Prior to the bloodshed, the 60-year-old man Ngan was said to have voiced his dissatisfaction towards his 68-year-old neighbor Mak, who switched on an electric fan in the corridor.

During the fight, Mak was said to have grabbed a fruit knife and stabbed Ngan in the stomach.

Staffers at the care home immediately intervened and reported the case to the police.

Paramedics responded to the scene and took Ngan to Tuen Mun Hospital, while Mak was arrested by police for assault.

According to sources, the two stayed in different rooms at the care home and have been holding grudges against each other for a long time.

An investigation is ongoing.
