Group III has been split to form Group IIIA and Group IIIB with regions belonging to Group IIIA having the quarantine for cats and dogs shortened from 120 days to 30 days starting next month. Macau is the first region to join Group IIIA.
The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) announced on Tuesday the introduction of Group IIIA.
Eligible pets must be implanted with a compliant microchip and accompanied by valid vaccination certificates against rabies and other specified infectious diseases.
Pet owners are required to submit satisfactory rabies-neutralizing antibody titer test results from a laboratory recognized by the AFCD, and a health certificate issued or endorsed by a government veterinary officer from the place of export.
Under the new arrangement, the original Group III will be renamed Group IIIB, which maintains a quarantine period of no less than 120 days for pets imported from this category.
Additionally, the department is currently discussing with mainland authorities the implementation details to include the mainland in the Group IIIA category.
