In the social media post, the 55-year-old shared that he was first diagnosed with high stomach acid and gastritis after suffering from gastrointestinal discomfort and vomiting earlier last month.
However, further tests revealed that he had stomach cancer, which prompted urgent surgery to remove half of his stomach along with some nearby lymph nodes.
Shiu has shed 15 kilograms following the surgery, and the follow-up treatment will hinge on the upcoming results of the tumor tests.
He noted that he no longer experiences immediate vomiting after eating, and his wounds are healing. He was discharged from the hospital on the 16th day after his admission.
He also expressed his gratitude to the staff at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for their attentive care.
Shiu previously had a percutaneous coronary intervention in 2019.
