The "Hong Kong Pals" Volunteer Program, launched in 2009, has recruited more than 100 volunteers who have contributed 70,000 hours of volunteer service and assisted hundreds of thousands of visitors.
A new round of programs accepts registration from Wednesday (Apr 24) to May 31.
The volunteers shall be friendly and hospitable, and well-versed in any tourism-related aspects, such as traditional local culture, shopping, food and drinks, green tourism, arts, cultural and entertainment.
They shall speak fluent Cantonese, English and Mandarin, and ability in any other languages would be an advantage.
Selected volunteers will be equipped with comprehensive training, preparing them to serve in HKTB's visitor centers and mega events. They will gain the skills to provide local recommendations on travel tips and advice.
The training consists of workshops in hospitality and storytelling and guided tours to get a first-hand experience of the city's tourism products, attractions, and cultural and entertainment offerings.
The Board said it is looking for young individuals from various tertiary education institutions to cultivate new talents in the sector and build a team with youthful and vibrant energy. It is also inviting instructors from universities and institutes to nominate students with good potential to join as Hong Kong Pals.
The service commencement for the new batch of Hong Kong Pals will be started in November until October 2025.
