New route of High-Speed Rail stopover Jiangmen to start on Wed

A new Zhanjiangxi route of High-Speed Rail linking with five new destinations, including Jiangmen, will begin service on Wednesday (Oct 11).

The new line will pass through five stations - Jiangmen, Kaipingnan, Yangjiang, Maoming, and Zhanjiangxi - with one pair of southbound and northbound trains daily.

It will take less than two hours to commute between Hong Kong West Kowloon station and Jiangmen station, saving about half an hour on the journey.

According to the information from the official 12306 website of the China Railway, the first-class and business-class tickets for the new route on Wednesday were nearly sold out as of 7 p.m. yesterday (Oct 9).

Together with the existing routes, passengers could travel to 73 mainland destinations directly from Hong Kong.

Train services between West Kowloon Station, Guangzhoudong station, and Futian Station will also be enhanced on Wednesday.

The number of daily train services to Guangzhoudong will increase to 20, while the last southbound train departure time will be extended from the current 6.45 p.m. to 8.18 p.m. from Guangzhoudong.

Train frequencies between Shenzhen and Hong Kong will also increase from 178 to 184 on the same day.
