The Hong Kong Observatory hoisted the Special Weather Tips today at 9.50 a.m., with Sai Kung and Tai Po recording heavy rain.
A rehabus from the Day Activity Centre carrying students and staff members back to the center switched routes in order to avoid the rain and entered 8 To Lok Road.
But the bus was suddenly affected by flooding when it got near the road, with half of its tires under water becoming trapped at the location.
The driver immediately contacted the police for assistance.
The firefighters later arrived to assist them in the evacuation, and no injuries were reported.
The driver stated that this was the first time in more than ten years that this issue had occurred and that he did not expect to be in this situation when trying to avoid the rain.
He is currently staying behind and waiting for a tow truck for the bus.
