A police officer was sent to the hospital as he failed to dodge a police vehicle crashed by a driver who was caught failing to settle traffic fines in Kwai Chung in the early hours of Saturday.
No arrest has been made so far.
The incident occurred at around 1.28am on Saturday as the driver pulled over his white seven-seater by the double yellow lines on Wo Yi Hop Road in Kwai Chung to eat.
Two officers approached the car that was illegally parked by the roadside and asked the driver, aged between 40 and 50, to present his ID card and driver’s license. Officers then found the driver was wanted because he had not settled previous traffic fines.
The driver suddenly threw away his meal box and hit the gas, crashing his car into a police vehicle. The driver soon escaped while the police vehicle mounted onto the sidewalk and headed straight into the fencing at a bus stop.
An officer didn’t dodge the vehicle in time and injured his limbs.
A report was filed to senior management, and police mobilized other teams to locate the driver and his car but in vain.
The case was listed as furious driving.
