EcoDrive yesterday published on social media the music video titled “No Single-Use Plastic”, which features marine animals like sharks, whales and turtles surrounded by plastic waste in the sea.
“We are sick, too much plastic. We are sick, help us quick!” the cartoon characters sang.
They then urged children to say no to using plastic bags, cups and straws, all of which could hurt marine lives.
Instead, kids were encouraged to bring eco-friendly alternatives. “Do your part, Let’s be smart. Start small, start now!”
The song was produced in cooperation with “Baby Shark”’s original creator Pinkfong, a South Korean brand of children's education.
EcoDrive said they wish to spread the environmental protection messages to children staying at home and having online classes, as it has been difficult for them to conduct talks and events in schools amid the pandemic.
The NGO also noted that single-use plastic usage is increasing tremendously, prompting them to find new ways to continue their work.
The spike of plastic usage globally has been driven by demand for surgical masks and other personal protection equipment, as well as takeaway food containers due to social distancing rules.
