At least 90 people were arrested in Mongkok and Yau Ma Tei during protests this afternoon, a majority for illegal assembly.
Police said as of 5pm, 87 people were arrested for unauthorized assembly. The others were arrested for police assault, obstructing police officers for carrying out their duties and disorder in public spaces.
Another 22 people were fined for breaching the social gathering cap of two people. Among the arrested were League of Social Democrats' Leung Kwok-hung and Raphael Wong Ho-ming as well as Civil Human Rights Front's Figo Chan Ho-wun.
Protesters were denouncing the postponement of the Legco election and the national security law. The Legislative Council election was supposed to take place today, before the government postponed it for a year due to the pandemic.
They also wanted the govenrnment to offer an update as to what happened to the 12 Hongkongers who were arrested by mainland authorities when they were trying to escape to Taiwan by sea.
Two 15-year-old boys were taken away before the protest began, after one failed to present his identity card and another got a helmet and respiratory with him.
There was heavy police presence in Kowloon as some 2,000 policemen went on standby citywide.
A crowd started to gather around 2pm, shouting “Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of the times”. Some changed slogans at Langham Place shopping mall, others walked along Temple Street, Shanghai Street, Jordan Road and Woosung Street.
Eastern district councillor Tsang Kin-shing, Shatin district councilor and Civil Human Rights Front convener Jimmy Sham Tsz-kit and League of Social Democrats member Chan Po-ying were fined for breaching the social gathering cap around Jordan.
Joshua Wong Chi-fung was also spotted in the area.
Police warned the Kowloon protest is unauthorized.
It found a bag of bricks on the back alley of Pak Hoi Street, while it did not rule out to be connected to the protest.
