Police have fined several district councilors who protest in Sai Ying Pun where a mainland testing company set up its temporary laboratory.
BGI Group has finished setting up the labs in Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park last week. Several councilors including Roy Tam Hoi-pong protested there today against the government endorsing mainland companies to conduct citywide virus tests. They also opposed the government's plan to launch a health code, which would facilitate Hongkongers to travel to mainland or Macau without going through 14 days of quarantine.
Although they stood in groups of two when talking to reporters, police decided to fine them for breaching the social gathering cap.
