Raymond Yeung, a teacher who was blinded in one eye by an alleged police projectile on June 12 last year, will not see his contract renewed by Diocesan Girls’ School.
He said on his Facebook that his contract will end this August, and he will leave his position next month.
The school told him it will cancel teaching liberal studies in secondary three classes, leaving him redundant. Yeung was the teacher with least experience in his team, he was told.
The teacher said his weakened eyesight has made it difficult for him to go through school work – meaning it will be hard for him to continue working as a full-time teacher.
He also acknowledged that his interviews with the press as a DGS teacher could affect the school name.
