The boy, surnamed Wong, leaped to his death at Buddhist Chan Wing Kan Memorial School at around 2 pm. He was rushed to Pok Oi Hospital and later pronounced dead.
The father said his son was disciplined by three teachers, including the vice principal and a discipline master, at the same time just before the tragedy.
He intends to write to the Education Bureau and the Against Child Abuse to seek investigation and accountability, and requested clarification from the school regarding the nature of the discipline his son received.
The parents mentioned that the boy could be somewhat disruptive in class, but he was well-liked by his peers. They acknowledged that their son was often unhappy at school and claimed he was targeted by some teachers.
Describing their son as a lively and happy child, the parents said they would like to sort out what has led to his tragic decision. The father emphasized that he never pressured his son academically and did not mind his son's low academic performance at the school.
The school expressed profound sadness at the passing of Wong, and noted that a crisis management team was established to support affected staff and students. The vice principal said the case is under investigation and the school cannot comment further.
