The nostalgic red and white train exterior design reflects the look of the first-generation trains that hit the tracks following the MTR's launch in 1979.
The 45th anniversary themed train consists of eight carriages, featuring two distinct themed compartments.
The "Memories" compartment recreates the ball-shaped straphangers, a signature design element, along with the classic orange-yellow ceilings and warm nostalgic lighting.
The other four "Togetherness" compartment collaborates with local renowned cartoonist Li Chi-tak showcasing reimagined illustrations inspired by the classic comic series "My Boy," created by the late artist Wong Sze-ma during the 1970s and 1980s.
The 45th Anniversary Themed Train will serve passengers on selected urban lines starting from today till the end of this year.
There will be a public showcase at Choi Hung Station this Saturday (Aug 24), where the public will have the opportunity to board the train and capture joyful moments.
