Actor and singer Hubert Wu Hung-kwan has been prosecuted and will appear in court after he was caught carrying over 100 heated cigarettes at West Kowloon Station when returning to Hong Kong in late January.
According to reports, 33-year-old Wu was arrested upon his return to Hong Kong after starring in a concert at Huadu Stadium in Guangzhou, alongside prominent Cantonpop stars including Priscilla Chan Wai-han, boy band Grasshopper, and David Lui Fong.
Responding to media inquiries, Wu said he was helping a friend buy all those heated cigarettes and admitted he lacked sufficient knowledge in this area, thinking that heated cigarettes were allowed in Hong Kong.
He said he has learned a valuable lesson this time and won’t make the same mistake again.
Wu started his career in show business in 2010 after winning second place in TVB’s singing contest The Voice 2. He soon became an artiste for the TV station and signed with TVB Music Group two years later.
Wu has since released some popular hits for the station’s drama series, such as “I was here”, “Far away” and “Intolerance”.
After his contract with TVB ended in 2021, Wu signed with Shaw Brothers Pictures.
