An Air India flight from Hong Kong to New Delhi, India, caught fire shortly after landing on Tuesday (Jul 22) at Indira Gandhi International Airport, with no injuries reported.
According to Indian media reports, the flight AI315 experienced a fire in its auxiliary power unit (APU) as passengers were disembarking from the aircraft.
The APU, located at the tail of the aircraft, automatically shut down, while all passengers and crew members evacuated safely.
The airline's spokesperson noted that the fire was detected by sensors, and the fire suppression system quickly extinguished the flames.
The aircraft has been suspended from flights for further investigation, and the regulatory institution has been notified about the incident, the airline noted.
This marks Air India's third incident in two days. On Monday, Flight AI2744 from Kochi to Mumbai veered slightly off course during landing, while a Delhi to Kolkata flight aborted takeoff after a technical issue was detected.
