Chinese tennis legend and Tournament Director Li Na said Hong Kong is now well-positioned to host higher-level WTA tournaments, following the success of the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open 2025.
As part of the city’s “Super October” sports series, the tournament drew top international stars including Sofia Kenin, Leylah Fernandez, Belinda Bencic, and Shuai Zhang, alongside Hong Kong players Cody Wong and Eudice Chong, who both claimed their first main draw wins.
Li, serving her second term as Tournament Director, oversaw all aspects of the event — from player coordination and fan activities to compliance with WTA standards. She also arranged city tours for players to experience Hong Kong’s attractions.
“I’m thrilled to see Hong Kong’s continuous improvement in tennis standards and event management,” said Li. “Based on player feedback and my own observations, the city is ready to bid for higher-level WTA events and to establish itself as a leading tennis hub in Asia.”
The WTA 250 tournament, held at Victoria Park from October 25 to November 2, featured over 50 players competing for US$250,000 in prize money, supported by title sponsor Prudential Hong Kong Limited and the Hong Kong, China Tennis Association.
