The Hong Kong Country Club has launched the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour 2025, upgraded to MT700 – one of only four in Asia – marking Hong Kong’s highest-graded senior tennis event. The tournament runs until 9 November and features more than 400 players aged 45 to 75+, competing for a total prize pool of HK$504,000.
Ms Delaine Quach, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Country Club, believes that the upgrade of the tournament to MT700 is one of only four MT700 events across Asia, marking a historic milestone as the highest-graded senior tennis tournament ever held in Hong Kong.
The opening ceremony welcomed local sports stars, including hurdler Rico Cheung, skier Adrian Yung, and rower Hailey Tang, alongside VIP guests such as Legco member Vincent Cheng, who praised the event for promoting Hong Kong as a global sporting hub.
Former ITF world champion Glenn Busby, currently ranked No.1 in Men’s 65+ singles, led tennis clinics for young players and wheelchair athletes as part of the Club’s community outreach programme. Admission is free, with selected days offering complimentary happy hours for spectators.
The MT700 continues through 9 November, combining world-class competition with opportunities for public engagement.
