Former principal assistant secretary of the Development Bureau Fiona Chau Suet-mui assumed office as the new director-general of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in London, pledging to promote the city's core strengths and international competitiveness.Chau expressed her eagerness to promote the city and its vast business potential and cultural diversity "with a view to strengthening the economic, commercial and cultural ties between Hong Kong and the nine countries under the purview of the office."
As successor to Gilford Law Sun-on, Chau, pictured, will be responsible for promoting the city's bilateral relations with the United Kingdom and eight other countries - Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Russia and Sweden.
