Science Park looks to live up to name

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation will launch its first "Robots Everywhere" program from June to October, during which it will recruit both local and overseas enterprises to provide automation solutions for campus cleaning and patrolling.

The program aims to recruit enterprises in the business of developing smart city and sustainable innovation technologies, providing it with adoption opportunities at the science park to accelerate the implementation of innovation and technology in the market.

The head of STP Platform at HKSTP, Crystal Fok Lo-ming, said: "As a campus-scale living lab in the city, HKSTP offers real-life scenarios for global enterprises to test, refine and validate innovations. Through the 'Robots Everywhere' program, tech ventures can unlock business collaboration opportunities and jointly transform Hong Kong Science Park into a smarter campus.

"We are excited to share our knowledge and experience with technology application in the industry, fostering confidence in the adoption of innovative solutions and further accelerating validation and commercialization of innovations across Hong Kong businesses."

Filla Mak, head of operations and leasing, HKSTP, said: "With the 'Robots Everywhere' program, we will implement more market-ready solutions at the campus, which will help enhance the operational efficiency of facility management.

"This will also drive cooperation between the industry and tech ventures, with HKSTP taking a leading role in encouraging industry partners to adopt and expand the application of proven innovative technologies."

On top of "Robots Everywhere" for smart facility management, the corporation also plans to launch four more themed cohorts in the future: Smart Navigation with location-based services, Edutainment@Experience Centre, Green Tech for Energy Harvesting and Know Your Customer 360. Each of these will see tech ventures enact real world scenarios at the Science Park as a testing ground.

HKSTP also hosted a fireside chat "If failure is not an option, why is success so rare?" as part of the Smart Campus Challenge event, where ecosystem leaders discussed key factors of success in technology adoption. The open dialogue fostered an environment that encouraged innovation and collaboration, bringing together both solution seekers and providers.
