A custard flan sold at a whopping HK$98 per piece from a Tsim Sha Tsui hotel was not slammed for its jacked-up price. Instead, it was praised for its good taste - as a mainland visitor said: "It is just too yummy that I cannot even stop eating it."The pastry was designed by French chef Jonathan Soukdeo, who worked with many internationally renowned pastry chefs. 
The compliment came after she shared her experience on mainland social media eating the Hokkaido Custard Flan produced by Rosewood Hong Kong's pastry shop Butterfly Patisserie, stuffed with smooth vanilla cream custard instead of the traditional egg yolk fillings.

Although the food received unanimous praise, the high price still triggered heated discussions on the internet - with some commenting that people can buy "three or four pounds of beef" or "as many egg tarts as they want" at fast food chain KFC with the same amount of money.
