I&T Grand Challenge heats up

The 2nd City I&T Grand Challenge attracted around 1,180 submissions, with only 220 selected to the semi-pitch round to be held between July 9 and 20 at the Hong Kong Science Park and InnoCentre.

From a total of about 2,500 contestants joining as either individuals or groups, more than 90 percent were from Hong Kong, with the rest from the mainland, Australia, Singapore, and the United States. This year's theme is Hong Kong's Got I&T with two categories: I&T for Nature (Yama) focused on improving country parks and campsite operations, and I&T for Community (Community Wellness) leveraging IT solutions to support caregivers.

The grand pitch will be staged on August 10 at the HKSP. Winners from each of the four groups - the Primary School Group, the Secondary School Group, the University/Tertiary Institute Group, and the Open Group - will receive cash prizes and trophies.

Winners of the Open Group and University/Tertiary Institute Group could receive up to HK$1 million to test their ideas.
