The University of Science and Technology has received a HK$30 million donation from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to establish three Jockey Club STEM Labs.It will also apply research results in various fields including intelligent transportation systems, clean energy, and e-health. 
The Lab of Data Science Foundations will research on fundamental issues on data science for data quality management and advanced data analytics.

The Lab of Regenerative Biology will study stem cell-niche interactions and establish artificial niches for tissue regeneration and anti-aging.
It will also develop gene and stem cell therapies for retinal neuronal degenerative diseases by uncovering their underlying causes and expanding human retinal stem cells. And the Lab of Convection and Precipitation will enhance the understanding and predictive capabilities of extreme precipitation by conducting data analysis and model simulations for better extreme-weather response.
