Hong Kong's private home completions drop to a seven-year low of 1,564 units in Q1 

Hong Kong's private home completions dropped about 70 percent to 1,564 units in the first quarter, compared to 5,486 units in the same period last year, marking the lowest quarter level since 2019, according to the Rating and Valuation Department on Thursday.

This figure accounts for 9.21 percent of the government's 2026 forecast of 16,975 units.

In March, 404 private homes were completed, a month-on-month decrease of 62 percent compared to the 1,068 units in February.

By region, New Territories saw 243 units completed, bringing the total number of completed units in the first quarter to 1,305, accounting for over 80 percent of the total. Hong Kong Island recorded 161 units completed last month, bringing the total number of completed units in the first quarter to 254, while Kowloon has only seen 5 units completed so far.
