Hong Kong's potential new private home supply in the coming few years rose to over 100,000, marking a three-quarter high, official data showed.
The number of first-hand private residential units that may be available in the coming three to four years increased by 2,000 to 104,000 quarter-on-quarter in the three months ended in December, rising for two straight quarters, data from the Housing Bureau showed on Friday.
The supply growth is mainly attributed to units from disposed sites where construction may start anytime rose over 40 percent to a two-year high at 20,000.
There were 5,100 new homes completed in the fourth quarter, up 54.5 percent from the previous quarter. The city saw a total of 18,400 completed flats this year, lower than the government's target of 20,860 units.
Unsold units in completed projects during the period also declined to 23,000 from a quarter ago, reaching the lowest for five quarters.
Units under construction less units sold by presale dropped further to a four-year low at 61,000 as of the end of December.
