The Prosecutor, an action thriller starring as well as directed and produced by Donnie Yen Chi-tan, has exceeded HK$22 million at the box office.
The film has also become the top-grossing movie for three consecutive weeks since its premiere on December 21 last year.
In expressing gratitude to fans, members of the cast including Adam Pak Tin Nam, Locker Lam Ka-hei, Mason Fung Ho-Yeung and Lau Kong attended meet-and-greet sessions in multiple cinemas across the city on Friday. Moviegoers were shocked by a chase scene with Yen and 78-year-old Lau running in a car park to escape pursuers. Lau said: "Luckily I have a jogging hobby Mr Yen said he wanted to have the excitement of us two being hunted, and I found that we were actually so close to the car chasing behind us."
The film references a 2016 Hong Kong court case where a man had been framed and jailed for 23 years after falsely confessing to drug trafficking.
