Debt collectors scatter notable bait

Debt collectors are coming up with new and innovative ways to chase debtors, with a video widely circulated online showing debt collection notices, each attached with a genuine HK$10 banknote, scattered on the road in Sheung Wan.

As seen in the video, over 50 debt collection notices were scattered, with pedestrians picking them up from the road.

Each notice had a HK$10 banknote attached.

The notice also contained the person's photo and personal information, including sentences accusing him of failing to pay debts.

Police said a 56-year-old man filed a police report at 4.30pm on Monday, telling officers there were posters attached with banknotes scattered on the road outside Wing On Centre.

The man turned in 83 of the posters with about HK$830 attached to them.

The case is being followed up by the Central district criminal investigation team.
