Expanding Coverage of EV Charging Stations and Providing Convenient and Efficient Charging Services to Electric Vehicles in Hong Kong
Sino Group (the ‘Group’) and PetroChina International (Hong Kong) Corporation Limited (‘PCHK’) signed a memorandum of understanding on 24 June 2024 to expand the coverage of electric vehicle (EV’) charging stations in Hong Kong to support green transportation. Sino Group is PCHK’s first partner in the EV charging sector in Hong Kong. Through this partnership, both parties aim to provide EV drivers with a more convenient and efficient EV charging experience and support the popularisation of EVs.
Sino Group and PCHK are dedicated to promoting sustainable development in Hong Kong and supporting the government’s emphasis on promoting green transportation. In the initial stage of the partnership, EV charging stations will be installed and upgraded at several of the Group’s properties, including One North, Ping Wui Centre, and the joint venture project Central Plaza, encompassing new retail and office complexes, grade A office buildings and multi-storey car parks. Going forward, the parties will expand the partnership to more of the Group’s properties, building on the experience in engineering and operations gained.
Ms. Bella Chhoa, Director of Asset Management of Sino Group, said, ‘In line with our “Sustainability Vision 2030”, the Group aims to reduce carbon emissions by integrating sustainability into all aspects of our business. Our property management arm, Sino Property Services (‘SPS’), actively aligns its services with the government's green transportation policy. Over 1800 EV chargers have been installed at properties managed by SPS, making us one of the real estate companies in Hong Kong providing the highest number of EV chargers. We actively collaborate with like-minded partners to expand the coverage of EV charging stations and promote the wider adoption of EVs through various EV parking rewards programmes and promotions. We are delighted to have become the first partner of PetroChina International (Hong Kong) Corporation Limited in promoting green transportation and raising public awareness about sustainability.’
Mr. Sun Jinhua, General Manager of PCHK, said, ‘Recently, over eight out of every ten new private cars sold in Hong Kong are EVs, and the percentage is growing notably year-on-year. The partnership with Sino Group is an important step in our business expansion to EV charging from fuel supply and operation of petrol stations. The partnership encompasses various types of Sino Group’s properties, enabling the deployment of EV charging services to customers with different needs. Together with Sino Group, we hope to build a quality EV charging network, promoting the popularisation of EVs in Hong Kong and contributing to the promotion of green transportation and sustainable development.’
