Teenage singer Chantel Yiu Cheuk-faye has sought an injunction from the High Court against the distribution of three videos hinting at romantic relationships that she says have tainted her image as an artist.
The writ said the three videos that emerged on social media around June 23 show Yiu trying on a white dress and holding hands with someone, making it appear that she has inappropriate relationships with men.
"Yiu is a minor and a well-known artist and singer in Hong Kong and the mainland and across the world," the writ said.
"The three video clips, in combination with statements that are defamatory to Yiu, falsely and maliciously suggest and insinuate that Yiu, as a minor, has initiated, suggested or otherwise engaged in improper relationships of a sexual nature with others, contrary to her public image."The father is asking the court to restrain people from publishing, republishing, circulating or spreading the videos on any online platforms, including Lihkg, Facebook and Telegram.
People should also be banned from assisting, procuring, aiding or authorizing others to spread the videos, he said.Yiu left with her family for a trip to New Zealand on Saturday and said she was in a good mood.
She has said she will return to attend the Hong Kong Gold Songs Award ceremony on July 24.wallis.wang@singtaonewscorp.com
