The tunnel, opened in May last year, connects City University of Hong Kong with the adjacent shopping mall via a high-tech, art-infused public passageway. Its entrance features a giant 4K touchscreen wall for interactive campus navigation.
A glass ceiling incorporates the university logo, extending into 100 meters of LED screens on both sides for immersive digital experiences that double as a flexible exhibition space.
The design blends technology and art, serving as a popular check-in spot for visitors while strengthening ties between the university and the Sham Shui Po community, showcasing Hong Kong's cultural vibrancy.
The A&D Awards, organized by PERSPECTIVE magazine, rank among the region's most influential design honors.
Judged by international experts, criteria include creativity, human-centered innovation, usability, aesthetics, sustainability and social impact.
Earlier, the tunnel received the ArtCan Cultural Award at the ArtCan Cultural Forum and Awards Ceremony 2025 organized by Sing Tao News Group, the only local university honored that year.
Among 30 finalists, it ranked in the top ten. Judges praised its groundbreaking launch via Hong Kong's first tunnel fashion show and interactive elements, merging tech and art into a beloved new landmark.
