Drunken man falsely reports fire, three cabbies receive penalties

Police received a report at 2am on Tuesday claiming a taxi was on fire outside Sha Tin Wai MTR station. However, when firefighters arrived at the scene, they found no cars ablaze nor any emitting smoke.

After a preliminary investigation, it is believed that someone made a false report while drunk.

Police made no arrests, but issued a verbal warning instead to the person who made the false claim before releasing him.

Following the incident, officers found three taxis illegally parked on the roadside outside the MTR station and issued three fixed penalty tickets.
