Four youths face murder charges in fatal stabbing of Pakistani man in Jordan

A 35-year-old Pakistani man, Fayzan Ali, was fatally stabbed on Jordan Road three years ago, and four South Asian youths have been charged with murder. The defendants — Singh Gurpreet, Singh Harwinder, Shingari Dheeraj, and Singh Gurjinder — appeared in the High Court on Monday (Jan 12).

Prosecutors said Ali was chased and stabbed by five masked men around 4 a.m. on August 29, 2022, after leaving Chungking Mansions, before collapsing at the junction of Jordan Road and Parkes Street. He later died from multiple stab wounds and severe blood loss.

Two of the defendants allegedly acted as drivers, shuttling the attackers, while Dheeraj admitted arranging a meeting with the victim by phone. Police recovered four knives, a cricket bag, and shards of glass from the area, and DNA evidence linked the victim and one defendant to the weapons and a car used in the attack.

The court said Ali had prior theft and drug offences. Separately, earlier on the same day, Gurpreet filed a police report at Tsim Sha Tsui Police Station, claiming he had been assaulted by a stranger at Chungking Mansions while drinking in the afternoon. The attacker fled and was not caught.
