More than a month after the devastating fire at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) successfully trapped and reunited two surviving cats with their owners on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
The SPCA had previously placed several cat traps around the estate perimeter. On December 25 (Thu), one cat entered a trap and was taken for checks, confirmed healthy, and quickly returned home.
On January 1, staff captured another cat, still unsettled but ready for owner collection.
Dozens of pets remain missing from the blaze. After coordination with authorities, the SPCA gained approval just before Christmas to install limited traps and cameras at Wang Yan House.
Police have now permitted traps in the remaining five blocks next week to continue searching for lost cats.
