Man stabbed with scissors in Yau Ma Tei, following dispute over eye contact

A 34-year-old man was stabbed in the buttocks with scissors on New Year's Eve in Yau Ma Tei after a confrontation reportedly sparked by eye contact with two men.

The assault occurred around 9pm yesterday while the victim, surnamed Chan, was passing through the intersection of Waterloo Road and Portland Street.

A verbal argument erupted over the eye contact, escalating when one suspect suddenly produced scissors and stabbed Chan, inflicting approximately one-centimeter wounds on each buttock.

Chan, however, did not report the incident immediately. The case was only filed today after he recounted the assault to a friend, who then contacted the police on his behalf.

Chan was subsequently taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for medical examination.

The case has been classified as wounding and assigned to the Yau Tsim police district for follow-up. 

Authorities are currently tracking down the two male suspects involved.
