The Health Bureau (HHB) announced that 67 of the 79 people injured in the Wang Fuk Court fire have now recovered and were discharged as of Wednesday, with the remaining 12 patients in stable condition.
The update comes amid the introduction of expanded support programs for residents affected by the fire.
In a key financial relief measure, all residents of Wang Fuk Court—including foreign domestic helpers—will be eligible for full medical fee exemptions for Hospital Authority (HA) services until December 31, 2026.
The waiver covers a wide range of services from in-patient services, family medicine and specialist out-patient clinics (SOPCs) services (including psychiatry SOPCs), accident and emergency services, day hospitals, day procedures, community services, and Chinese Medicine Clinics cum Training and Research Centres under the HA.
As of Wednesday, approximately 1,700 affected individuals have already received necessary medical services from the HA.
In addition to public healthcare support, over 300 private family doctors have participated in a free family doctor service scheme, with 63 residents arranged to receive consultations.
Additionally, the free Chinese medicine(CM) consultation service has engaged more than 360 practitioners, providing care to 24 residents.
Regarding free denture replacement service, over 90 private dentists participated and assisted 18 residents so far.
Beyond medical assistance, the department has enhanced emotional support services following the incident. The Mental Health Support Hotline, 18111, has received over 10,500 calls, with approximately 690 of those related to the fire.
The WhatsApp service has processed approximately 520 messages, including about 50 concerning the fire incident.
Furthermore, the HA’s 24-hour Mental Health Direct Hotline has recorded 94 calls specifically connected to the fire, with 34 calls from affected residents.
Meanwhile, the District Health Centre’s hotlines for personalized case management services have logged a total of 220 inquiries as of the latest update.
