A woman found unconscious with stab wounds after a fire in a Tuen Mun flat on Tuesday morning succumbed to her injuries. Police arrested her boyfriend for murder and arson.
The incident took place around 6.59am when security personnel noticed heavy smoke billowing from a flat in On Ting Estate.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, and a couple in their 50s were found to have suffered severe injuries from the blaze.
The woman, surnamed Chan, was found unconscious with stab wounds, while her boyfriend, surnamed Hung, sustained minor injuries to his hands.
The pair were both rushed to Tuen Mun Hospital, where Chan was later pronounced dead.
Firefighters conducted a preliminary examination and deemed the fire to be suspicious. Police subsequently arrested the 51-year-old Hung on suspicion of murder and arson.
Sources suggested the couple lived together and both worked as security guards within the Estate.
The case has been classified as murder. The investigation is ongoing.
