The world's first Monopoly-themed attraction, Monopoly Dreams Hong Kong™, will see its final dice roll at The Peak on Sunday as the attraction prepares to officially close its doors.
The announcement came last Tuesday (Nov 18) through social media, noting it had "concluded its mission" at the iconic Hong Kong landmark after a six-year journey alongside the city's "tycoons”.
In a farewell message, the attraction reminded followers that Sunday (Nov 23) would represent their last opportunity to pursue their Monopoly dreams, encouraging visitors to "end the game with joy."
"Whether it's your first visit or your tenth, this "Last Day'" square only appears once in a lifetime," the post stated, urging visitors to seize their final chance for photos with Mr. Monopoly and one last walk through the iconic "Pass Go Channel."
Located in the city’s prime tourist destination, the 20,000-square-foot venue has brought the classic board game to life using holographic projections and 4DX technology since its opening in 2019.
Guests have been immersed in a vibrant world filled with the Monopoly’s elements, ranging from chance cards and banks to property cards, game pieces, waterworks, and even a Guinness World Record-holding version of the “World’s Biggest Car Token.”
Among its most popular features was the opportunity to print their own " title deed card" – a personalized souvenir from the exhibition zone that served as the perfect memento of their Monopoly adventure.
Projected to attract 700,000 to 800,000 visitors annually, the attraction took four years of preparation and an initial investment of over HK$100 million in design and construction, with total costs reaching HK$200 million after accounting for eight years of operational expenses.
