Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu will lead a government delegation to Shanghai on Tuesday (Nov 4) for the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The delegation includes Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau Ying-wah and the Director of the Chief Executive’s Office Carol Yip Man-kuen.
The six-day CIIE will feature over 3,200 enterprises across more than 110 countries.
Lee noted on Monday that over 350 Hong Kong companies from various industries will be participating in the CIIE this year, marking a record high.
This reflects Hong Kong businesses’ view of the CIIE as the premier platform for entering the domestic market and showcasing the city’s brands and innovative capabilities, he said, adding that CIIE will provide significant opportunities for Hong Kong enterprises.
Lee will attend the opening ceremony of the eighth CIIE and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum on Wednesday (Nov 5), and will visit the Hong Kong exhibition area to support local businesses.
Meanwhile, Lee will officiate at the “Hong Kong - The Ideal Platform for Mainland Enterprises in Going Global Promotion Conference” hosted by the SAR government, which marks the first large-scale publicity event on the mainland organized by the Task Force on Supporting Mainland Enterprises in Going Global.
During his visit to Shanghai, Lee will also meet with local leaders and engage with representatives of the Hong Kong community and businesses.
He is scheduled to return to Hong Kong on Thursday (Nov 6).
