MTR issues non-compliance notice over unauthorized screws and bolts at Tung Chung East Station

MTR Corporation has issued a non-compliance notice to the contractor over the unauthorized screws and bolts used in the promat board on the platform level and steel bridge at Tung Chung East Station, but noted that the materials met the required standards after examination.

It came after reports indicating that the contractor utilized screws and bolts that were not submitted for approval in the promat boards on the platform level and on the steel bridge respectively for the Tung Chung East Station on the Tung Chung Line Extension.

MTR stated that the contractor has since taken follow-up actions, including submitting necessary material information for approval and conducting on-site sample testing, which confirmed compliance with contract and legal requirements. 

MTR added that the processes at the two affected locations have not yet reached the delivery stage and that they will continue to monitor the construction process to ensure all steps are strictly followed.
