A 71-year-old man was taken to hospital on Tuesday morning after he was allegedly attacked by a South Asian man in a village playground in Fanling.

Police said they received a report at 8.09am about an assault in Kwan Tei Village, Lung Yeuk Tau section of Sha Tau Kok Road. Paramedics found the victim with multiple injuries but conscious, and was sent to North District Hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred near the entrance of Kwan Tei Village at a children’s playground. According to sources, the victim, surnamed Tse, lives in Cheung Wah Estate in Fanling and had gone to the village early in the morning to start work.
While waiting at the playground for his employer to drive him into the village for a moving job, he reportedly became embroiled in a dispute with another man over staring.
The suspect, described as South Asian, allegedly accused Tse of “staring at him” and then punched him repeatedly, leaving him bruised and battered.
Police have classified the case as “assault occasioning actual bodily harm” and are searching for the attacker. No arrest has been made so far.
