Elderly man arrested after removing patient's medical tube during hospital visit

An 80-year-old man was arrested for alleged assault after he mistakenly removed a fellow patient's medical tubes at Hong Kong's Eastern Hospital on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred at around 11am when the elderly man was visiting his wife at the hospital located in Chai Wan.

According to police sources, the man erroneously identified another patient as his spouse and proceeded to disconnect the individual's medical tubing.

Hospital staff discovered the situation promptly and alerted the authorities. The affected patient remained conscious throughout the incident.

Following a preliminary investigation, police arrested the octogenarian on suspicion of assault. The investigation is ongoing.
