A woman in Hong Kong was jolted awake after her power bank exploded with a loud bang early Wednesday, briefly sparking a fire that nearly reached the ceiling.
Posting about the incident on social media, the woman said she instinctively threw water on the flames before realizing it could have been dangerous. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Photos showed the charred remains of the power bank and nearby items, including makeup products. She clarified that the device belonged to her younger brother and warned others against buying chargers from unreliable sources.

The case was not reported to police or fire authorities.
Officials have repeatedly urged the public to use certified charging devices and avoid charging them overnight or placing them near flammable items.
