A Bangkok Airways flight en route to Hong Kong reportedly made an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand, after a passenger's power bank caught fire mid-air. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
According to a social media page tracking flight movements, the incident occurred last Thursday (Jul 24) on flight BG805 when smoke and flames erupted from the device, damaging the cabin floor beneath a passenger seat.
Crew members used fire extinguishers to contain the blaze and ensure passengers remained calm.
No injuries were reported, but the situation prompted the pilots to divert the aircraft to Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok as a precaution, according to the post.
Upon landing, passengers were safely evacuated and were provided with food and water while awaiting a replacement aircraft before continuing their trip to Hong Kong.
In response to inquiries, the Airport Authority Hong Kong confirmed that it received reports around 2pm on July 24 regarding the delay of flight PG805, which ultimately landed at Hong Kong International Airport at around 6.30pm.
