Yuen Long was thrown into chaos Friday afternoon when a knife-wielding man went on a rampage through the busy streets.
The incident began around 1pm on Fook Hong Street when a minivan driver reported being chased by a suspect who violently attacked his vehicle.
According to police, the assailant - described as wearing yellow construction worker attire - repeatedly struck the red cross-border minivan with a knife while attempting to force open its doors before fleeing the scene.
Authorities received multiple emergency calls within minutes as panicked residents reported seeing the same suspect brandishing a cleaver while walking menacingly through crowded areas.
Disturbing videos circulating on social media show terrified onlookers screaming warnings as the armed man moved unchallenged through pedestrian zones.
Police responded immediately, cordoning off the commercial district and launching a full-scale search operation. While officers recovered an abandoned knife believed to be used in the attacks, the suspect currently remains at large.
